POL’AND’ROCK FESTIVAL 2019 IN KOSTRZYN NAD ODRĄ

Pol’and’Rock 2019, formerly Przystanek Woodstock, begins on 1 August. This year’s edition will open with Ziggy Marley, performing immediately after Jurek Owsiak announces its beginning. Astonishingly, the most famous of Bob Marley’s sons has never performed in Poland, although his musical career began 40 years ago when he recorded his father’s “Children Playing in the Streets” with The Melody Makers. Now he will be one of Pol’and’Rock Festival 2019’s brightest stars. It is hard to imagine a better place for his debut before Polish audiences!

OUR INVOLVEMENT IN THE WORLD’S MOST BEAUTIFUL FESTIVAL

Very soon we will meet again at Pol’and’Rock Festival 2019!

Also appearing on Pol'and'Rock Festival's Main Stage that day will be Gogol Bordello, the creators of gypsy punk: an explosive, revolutionary mix of Eastern European sounds inspired by Ukrainian and Russian folklore, Yiddish music created by the local Jewish community, punk guitar riffs and swaying sounds straight from Latin America. This on-stage energy and these avant-garde sounds simply cannot be missed.

Powerful metalcore combined with electronics will also reach the Main Stage on 1 August. Crossfaith will overwhelm that day’s audience with their sound. Their unusual, eccentric approach to heavy music shows listeners how well electronic textures and powerful guitar riffs can work together. They draw equally on Slipknot, The Prodigy’s recordings and Skrillex’s heavy bass. These guys from Japan are sure to surprise us.

To end the day on a high, the Main Stage will be taken over by a group who surely need no introduction. Parkway Drive are travelling all the way from Australia to Pol’and’Rock Festival 2019. Their approach to metalcore is extraordinary, and their concerts are full of surprises and powerful emotions. It has earned them fans around the world, with more joining all the time. This performance is well worth waiting for until the very end!

The Small Stage will also be packed with top-class artists! The so-called circus without animals, Cyrk Deriglasoff, certainly deserves attention. The group comprises six musicians from jazz and popular music, with rock sounds blending perfectly into folk arrangements and a brilliant horn section. We will also see a young artist who has taken Poland’s alternative scene by storm. Daria Zawiałow is impossible to ignore. Her ringing voice and incredibly strong stage personality meant an appearance at Pol’and’Rock was only a matter of time.

The second day of Pol’and’Rock Festival 2019 will also be packed with the cream of the rock scene. Main Stage performers will include Krzysztof Zalewski. After the enormous success of his Small Stage appearance last year, he simply had to return on its larger counterpart. Krzysztof Zalewski is a musician, composer, multi-instrumentalist and lyricist regarded as one of Poland’s finest singers. After releasing his first album, “Pistolet”, he stepped away from the musical spotlight to hone his craft in supporting roles, playing in bands including Nosowska, HEY, Muchy and BRODKA. Those 9 years served him well: he returned in tremendous style. His music attracts thousands of fans, tours sell out in minutes, and his concerts are described as spectacles.

Lordi will also visit the Main Stage. The Finnish band, whose music lies between hard rock and melodic death metal, will deliver a monstrous dose of heavy sound. They achieved widespread fame after their great Eurovision victory in 2006, although fans of the genre had been following them long before. Their macabre costumes are their calling card, designed with a precision worthy of Hollywood’s big-budget horror productions. The artists protect their anonymity and appear publicly only in their frightening masks and costumes, preserving the whole band’s image. Their concerts are major performances, impossible to ignore and unforgettable long afterwards.

On 2 August, we will also see a supergroup, which is exactly how this band deserves to be described. Prophets of Rage are surely one of the most exciting propositions in music history. Formed in 2016, the group includes three members of Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave—bassist Tim Commerford, guitarist Tom Morello and drummer Brad Wilk—two members of Public Enemy, DJ Lord and Chuck D, and B-Real of Cypress Hill. The Prophets remind us that music is a powerful tool and a weapon: great energy, unshakeable ideals and a force that can change the world. Artists unafraid to show the world how much it has changed, fiercely determined to fight hypocrisy, political wrongdoing and inequality, Prophets of Rage will perform on the Main Stage of Pol'and'Rock Festival 2019!

That day’s Small Stage will be packed with unmissable acts. They include Kwiat Jabłoni, siblings creating compositions full of positive energy and warmth, with the exuberance and dynamic rhythms typical of folk. Alongside them will be a project showing that our own heritage deserves nurturing, respect and presentation. Tulia draw strongly on Polish folk culture in both their music and costumes. Just a year after forming, they have already achieved so much. Now it is time to win thousands of hearts at Pol’and’Rock Festival 2019!

The Main Stage’s final day brings a mixture of outstanding acts. We will have the pleasure of seeing and hearing Skunk Anansie, among others, celebrating 25 years in music! Their meteoric rise began with two singles released in 1994, “Little Baby Swastikkka” and “Selling Jesus”, and three groundbreaking rock albums: “Paranoid & Sunburnt”, “Stoosh” and “Post Orgasmic Chill”. Led by the charismatic Skin, the group earned their impressive reputation through staggering live performances. Their latest record, “25 At 25”, recorded at concerts across Europe, proves what a powerful live machine Skunk Anansie are. The Main Stage will truly be on fire.

To close the festival, the stage will be taken over by a band with millions of fans worldwide, whose music perfectly suits the summery holiday atmosphere of the Most Beautiful Festival in the World. Crystal Fighters combine Spanish folklore with electronic sounds, a rebellious punk attitude and a dose of hippie ease. This eccentric mixture ensured that music critics worldwide could not overlook the band. Crystal Fighters’ songs are a recipe for a perfect dance party, while their exuberant concerts, where artists in folk costumes draw audiences into the fun, offer the ideal ending to Pol’and’Rock Festival 2019!

Let us not forget the Main Stage’s little sister. On the festival’s final day, Polish music will be playing there as loudly as possible. Performers include an artist familiar to every child, big or small. Majka Jeżowska will be playing for more than just the youngest listeners! Her colourful personality, songs everyone knows, brilliant rapport with the audience and humour will get everyone gathered at the Small Stage joining in the fun. Ralph Kamiński will also get people dancing. He is a young but highly talented artist: the songs on his records are his own personal creations, in both their musical arrangements and lyrics. Ralph and My Best Band In The World will soon sweep the audience away once again, but this time their ship will be a spaceship.

For years, Kostrzyn’s festival has offered far more than concerts. The Academy of the Finest Arts provides artistic workshops and opportunities to join social and civic initiatives. The ASP tent welcomes personalities including Olga Tokarczuk, Zbigniew Zamachowski, Katarzyna Nosowska and Igor Tuleya. Late at night, it becomes another music stage, featuring Karolina Czarnecka, Maciej Maleńczuk and Renata Przemyk, among others.

As every year, we warmly invite you to Pol’and’Rock. You simply have to be there!
