Following his warmly received 2010 concert, City Sounds is pleased to invite you to a performance by Icelandic artist Ólafur Arnalds. A favourite of Sigur Ros, he will appear at Wrocław's Impart Arts Centre on 21 March, offering alternative music fans an encounter with classical arrangements and delicate electronica.

Olafur's concerts always receive ovations, and the artist's latest album earned excellent reviews in prestigious magazines and websites including Uncut, Clash, Dazed & Confused, Paste, Pitchfork and Drowned In Sound.

Ólafur Arnalds, born on 3 November 1986 in Mosfellsba, is an Icelandic multi-instrumentalist. He creates a world of delicate symphonic compositions, combining strings and piano in a distinctive way. He successfully brings classical music and pop together.

He describes it this way: “The classical scene seems closed to people who haven't studied music all their lives. I'd like to bring my classical influences into the lives of people who don't usually listen to this kind of music, to open their minds. Especially young people, who seem to make up the largest part of my audience.”

Polish fans experienced this in 2008 when Arnalds supported Sigur Rós in Warsaw, presenting his “Variations of Static” EP (2008). A year earlier, his debut, “Eulogy for Evolution”, had earned considerable critical acclaim. Following that classical debut, electronic crackles and machine noises appeared on “Variations of Static”. In 2010, Ólafur released “…and they have escaped the weight of darkness”.
