Ojos de Brujo in Wrocław: nuevo flamenco, Catalan rumba, hip-hop and dub
Ojos de Brujo develops nuevo flamenco through Catalan rumba, hip-hop and dub. The WrocLove Fest preview introduced the group’s Wrocław concert as an expanded live show with brass instruments and flamenco dance.

Spain’s Ojos de Brujo, meaning “Eyes of the Wizard”, have been active since the mid-1990s. Often described as nuevo flamenco, behind that catchy phrase lies an explosive mixture of flamenco, rumba, hip-hop and dub. Everything is performed with extraordinary energy and undeniable charisma. On tour, they are accompanied by two flamenco dancers and an expanded horn section, making every appearance a genuine musical and dance fiesta.
Over the past decade, the “Wizard's Eyes” have gathered a loyal following and earned the highest musical honours: BBC Radio Awards for World Music “Best European Act” in 2004 and a Grammy in the Latin category in 2007.

The Barcelona band's latest album was released in late March 2009 by Warner's European division. Ojos de Brujo will once again sound like Catalan rumba, as on all their previous work, while moving away from their earlier fascination with hip-hop. Caribbean rhythms, delicious brass sections and piano will join the familiar guitar approaches.
