Nigel Kennedy plays Jimi Hendrix feat. Mike Stern in Wrocław!

Ethno Jazz Festival invites you to Wrocław for a special concert by British violin virtuoso Nigel Kennedy and jazz-rock guitar legend Mike Stern, marking this year's 50th anniversary of the death of Jimi Hendrix, rock and electric guitar's greatest creator and innovator.

“Nigel KENNEDY Plays Jimi HENDRIX feat. Mike STERN” takes place on 4 June at Centennial Hall in Wrocław. It will be a special concert by two titans and “Crazy Fighters” on the borders of jazz, rock and classical music, meeting on stage to pay tribute to their guru, Jimi Hendrix!

Kennedy and Stern separately recorded albums and special pieces dedicated to the “Creator of New Music and Guitar”. Now, on the eve of the 50th anniversary of his death, they are creating a joint project.

Mike Stern is one of the world's finest jazz-rock guitarists. He has played in Miles Davis's and Jaco Pastorius's groups, as well as Steps Ahead and Blood, Sweat and Tears. He always stresses that Jimi Hendrix is his idol and inspiration.
With Kennedy's international band, he will seek to transport us into the atmosphere of the Woodstock Festival.

Nigel Kennedy, the best-selling classical recording artist of all time, moves as freely through classical repertoire as he does through contemporary music. He has long been a fascinating figure in British rock and pop. Artists with whom he has worked or continues to collaborate include The Who, Robert Plant, Jeff Beck, Paul McCartney, Donovan, Boy George, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Damon Reece (Massive Attack), Jon Lord (Deep Purple) and Eddie Kramer, Jimi Hendrix’s producer.

Ten years ago, to mark the 40th anniversary of Jimi Hendrix's death, Kennedy was invited to present a tribute programme to the legendary musician at Ronnie Scotts, the last venue where Hendrix performed.

Participants in the Guitar Guinness World Record will surely remember the outstanding “Nigel Kennedy plays Jimi Hendrix” concert at Wrocław’s Centennial Hall on 1 May 2015.
