Narcotango at Ethno Jazz Festival: Argentinian electrotango at Stary Klasztor

Narcotango brings traditional Buenos Aires tango together with pulsing electronics and Carlos Libedinsky’s personal approach. The Ethno Jazz Festival announcement at Stary Klasztor introduces a project conceived as both a musical story and an invitation to dance.

After the enthusiastically received Bajofongo Tango Club concert, it is time for another Argentinian electrotango star to visit Ethno Jazz Festival!

Passion and sensuality, traditional tango and electronica. Pulsing sounds from the streets of Buenos Aires. Carlos Libedinsky & Narcotango. This exceptional musical project comes to the Gothic Hall on 9 September as part of the prestigious “World Music at Stary Klasztor” series.

“NARCOTANGO is like a deep embrace uniting tango with the electronic musical atmosphere of our times […] When a few couples still remain on the floor, the magic of the milonga appears, as bodies tired from hours of dancing refuse to accept the evening’s end. NARCOTANGO was born in one such moment. I began imagining the music I wanted to dance to and watch others dancing to, because tango’s narcotic power confirms that anyone who enters this world will never leave. Tango is like a drug leading to an extraordinary, sensual and powerful addiction.” Carlos Libedinsky

Carlos Libedinsky is a musician, composer, arranger, singer and guitarist. His project Narcotango is among Argentina’s leading exponents of “electronic tango”, a style familiar to Polish audiences through performances by Gotan Project. Unlike that group, however, Narcotango consists of native Argentinians who live and perform in Buenos Aires. Carlos Libedinsky himself combines a love of electronic innovation with traditional tango, which he also teaches.

Join us for a fascinating encounter with tango, presented in phenomenal musical and visual surroundings.
