Muchy and guests: Poznań rock from the band known for “Terroromans” and “Karma market”

Muchy celebrate a birthday in a concert announcement bringing Poznań rock together with guest performers. The band known for “Terroromans” and “Karma market” named Nosowska, Peja and happysad in a programme shaped by guitar songs and musical encounters.

Muchy are undoubtedly a pillar of 21st-century Polish music. Their debut, “Terroromans”, appeared near the top of almost every important ranking and poll. Rightly so: it is one of the catchiest albums in Polish rock history.

Fantastic compositions, Michał Wiraszko's masterful lyrics, effortless simplicity, attention to nuance and a complete lack of respect for tradition: these still characterise the Poznań band's music. Positive reactions to the album enabled them to embark on their own tour and opened the doors to Poland's biggest, most important festival stages, including Open’er, Jarocin and Off Festival.

Over two years, Muchy played almost 150 concerts. In autumn 2009, they signed with Sony Music, leading to the acclaimed “Notoryczni debiutanci”. Its first single, “Przesilenie”, became the second-biggest hit from the Wielkopolska region in the 30-year history of Radio Three’s chart. The double release “chcecicospowiedziec” followed, featuring new music and a hybrid fiction-documentary film about the band. The film and the video for the next single, “Zamarzam”, were produced by cult Zielona Góra film collective SkyPiastowskie. That same year, Krzysztof Zalewski joined, contributing not only vocals but also keyboards and guitar.

The long-awaited “Karma market”, containing ten songs, was released in October 2014, marking the band's tenth birthday! Once again, Muchy showed with the lightness of The Smiths that Polish rock need not be shoddy. And live, they sound even better and catchier than on record!

A year ago, on 10 October 2014, the band played a birthday concert in Poznań with guests including Nosowska, Peja and happysad, coinciding with the release of “Karma market”. This began a tradition: from now on, Muchy will play birthday concerts on this date every year, inviting friends from whichever city hosts the concert.

The band will celebrate their forthcoming eleventh birthday at Wrocław's Stary Klasztor on 10 October! Guest appearances have been announced by Wrocław musicians who are friends of Muchy: Marcin Bors, the producer behind a host of Polish records over the past decade, including Muchy's “Notoryczni debiutanci” and “chcecicospowiedziec”, and Maciek Wasio, leader of Wrocław's OCN, a long-standing friend of the band and the life and soul of every social gathering.

Muchy will perform a cross-section of their four albums so far, plus material from their first-ever live album, “FALA”, due out in November and based on the soundtrack to Piotr Łazarkiewicz's 1985 film of the same name.
