Mazolewski & Porter at Zaklęte Rewiry: rock’s bite, jazz freedom and blues

Mazolewski & Porter will play at Zaklęte Rewiry!

Two uncompromising personalities of the Polish scene, whose joint album could become one of the season’s most discussed events. On one side is John Porter, an Englishman who chose Poland as his home in the 1970s, joined Maanam’s original line-up, played Cohen ballads with Maciej Zembaty and recorded cult albums with Porter Band, solo and with Anita Lipnicka. On the other is Wojtek Mazolewski, a man whose music is among Poland’s finest exports, a tireless jazz advocate performing worldwide with Pink Freud and Wojtek Mazolewski Quintet.

The two artists’ musical paths first crossed while recording Wojtek’s album “Chaos Pełen Idei”. From the very first minute of the session, it was clear they spoke the same musical language. The following months on the road, rehearsals and concerts yielded ideas for new songs. John and Wojtek have now finished their joint album, scheduled for release this year, and are currently preparing for concerts together.

Porter & Mazolewski combine classic and contemporary, rock bite, jazz virtuosity and blues spirit in beautifully crafted songs. Excellent musicians Piotr “Rubens” Rubik on guitar and Tomek “Harry” Wadowski on drums complete Mazolewski/Porter.
