Maria Peszek and “Jezus Maria Peszek”: original lyrics and the performer’s live expression
Maria Peszek introduces “Jezus Maria Peszek” and her distinctive stage expression in the Eter concert announcement. Following “Miasto mania” and “Maria awaria”, the performer develops original lyrics through a connection between theatrical experience and direct contact with a live audience.

Maria Peszek appeared on the Polish music scene in 2005 with “Miasto mania” and immediately stirred considerable controversy. From the outset, her rebellious nature, original lyrics and provocative behaviour went hand in hand with intriguing music and an innovative approach to art. She calls herself a performer, an excellent definition of what she does. She acted in theatre, now performs concerts and presents radio programmes, and every time seems born for that particular role. Some criticise her; others cannot take their eyes off her. She herself believes that an artist should cross every boundary, and consistently follows through on her intentions.
In 2008, she recorded “Maria awaria”, exploring sex and physicality. Her next album, 2012's “Jezus Maria Peszek”, was hailed as the year's most controversial production, earning Maria a reputation as Polish music's leading provocateur.
“We knew the new material had fantastic potential, but ‘Jezus’ turned out to be explosive live! It’s an incredible feeling to stand on stage and see such exuberant reactions, with people singing louder than you. That emotional response from the audience shows that what I do has meaning. When the response from the other side is so overwhelming, I know it was worth putting myself on the line, enduring attacks and following my own path,” says Maria Peszek.
To fully experience the emotions released by an album that caused a storm in Poland, and which Maria herself calls her most important, you need to hear it live.
