He began learning the piano at the age of five and, after progressing through every stage of musical education, graduated from the Academy of Music in Gdańsk in 1996. He became interested in jazz in his final year of secondary school. He earned his spurs in clarinettist Emil Kowalski's band and held his first rehearsal with Miłość on his 20th birthday. Early in his musical career, he was also a member of Zbigniew Namysłowski's quartet.

In 1992, he received an individual distinction at Jazz Juniors, the first drop in the shower of awards that would follow over subsequent years. Since then, he has won every successive “Jazz Forum” readers' poll in the Piano category and been named Musician of the Year multiple times.

The artist has recorded with Poland’s most distinguished jazz musicians, including Tomasz Stańko, Janusz Muniak, Michał Urbaniak and many others. Możdżer has also performed and recorded with international stars such as David Friesen, Pat Metheny, Arthur Blythe, Buster Williams, Billy Harper, Joe Lovano, Archi Shepp, David Liebman, Charles Fox, Lester Bowie, David Gilmour, Marcus Miller, John Scofield, Steve Swallow, Eddi Daniels and Tan Dun. He finds his fullest expression in solo projects and his own trio with Lars Danielsson and Zohar Fresco.
