Lady Pank’s “Symfonicznie” is a special release by the iconic Polish rock group and a series of exceptional concerts accompanied by a symphony orchestra!

Lady Pank's two records feature 20 of their greatest hits, recorded during anniversary concerts at Congress Hall and Katowice's Spodek, accompanied by Orkiestra Symfoników Gdańskich under Andrzej Szczypiorski. Symphonic arrangements of Lady Pank songs are interspersed with classical favourites.

“The idea was to choose classical hits that could somehow be brought into dialogue with Lady Pank’s hits,” says the symphony orchestra’s head, Andrzej Szczypiorski.

The idea was born in 2008, when Lady Pank first performed with the Gdańsk Symphony Orchestra as part of the Gdańsk Midsummer Night Spectacle. All the songs were arranged by Marcin Szczypiorski, a cellist with the Gdańsk Symphony Orchestra and Baltic Opera, who describes working on the album: “We tried to approach every Lady Pank song differently. In ‘Kryzysowa narzeczona’ and ‘Zostawcie Titanica’, the lyrics determined our choice of introduction. That is why Lehár’s The Merry Widow felt right for ‘Kryzysowa narzeczona’, while we chose Boccherini’s minuet for ‘Titanic’. In ‘Zawsze tam gdzie ty’, meanwhile, Borysewicz’s guitar enters at the point where the choir begins singing the Kyrie in Puccini’s Messa di Gloria.”

Lady Pank’s musicians are also delighted with the orchestral collaboration. “You can hear at the concerts that we are all having a great time,” recalls Janusz Panasewicz. He adds: “I have sung several thousand regular concerts, but when that mighty sound appears, those strings, those rich arrangements… it naturally creates a special mood. A different atmosphere, every bit as good as at rock concerts. During our show at Sala Kongresowa, there was a standing ovation after only the second number, and once the audience stood up, they stayed standing for two and a half hours.” Join us for the next instalment of the Lady Pank Symphonic tour in 2018.
