LIONSTAGE and CitySounds are delighted to invite you to another Polish performance by José James. The concert takes place at the Fabryka Trzciny Arts Centre in Warsaw on 23 October.

This is an important concert for us. For the first time, we are taking our concert brand beyond the place you associate with us. We have therefore chosen both Artist and Venue with great care. See you in Wrocław and/or Warsaw. The choice is yours.

José James

Jose James may not yet have graced DownBeat's cover, but he is one of today's most important American singers. He brilliantly combines jazz, soul, R’n’B and funk, turning a long list of influences into remarkably communicative expression.

Little wonder that a few months ago McCoy Tyner took him on tour to interpret the legendary “John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman” album with Chris Potter. America, at least its jazz-minded part, is going wild for him, together with his peers such as Gretchen Parlato and Robert Glasper.

His latest album, “No Beginning, No End”, is filled to the brim with jazz. It features beautifully arranged ballads, swaying neo-soul recalling the late 1990s and restrained downtempo-soul compositions. The singer enlisted the help of the finest instrumentalists working within the genre.

Once again, we could hear the fantastic results of Robert Glasper and Chris Dave's collaboration. Pino Palladino, the bassist involved in D’Angelo's Voodoo and Eryka Badu's Mama’s Gun, also contributed, alongside singers Hindi Zahra and Emily King.

In 2013, Jose James was invited to the largest and most highly regarded jazz festivals. These included such prestigious names as Montreux Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival and Lake Mission Viejo Jazzfest.
