“Flamenco namiętnie” at Impart: dance, singing and guitar directed by Krystyna Janda

Ethno Jazz Festival invites you to an extraordinary music and theatre event.

On 5 March, the theatre hall at BF Impart on ul. Mazowiecka will host “Flamenco namiętnie”, a musical production directed by Krystyna Janda, featuring Poland's finest flamenco musicians: Anna Iberszer — flamenco dance, Magda Navarrete — vocals, Andrzej Lewocki — guitar, and Marek Fedor — percussion.

The production tells a simple story of feelings and great human passions. Interweaving Ewa Demarczyk's Polish song “Czerwonym blaskiem otoczona” with Spanish rhythms and melodies makes the lyrics merely a starting point, leading us into the passionate world of FLAMENCO. Here, dance, singing, rhythm and guitar sounds express the deepest human emotions, from pain and despair to inexpressible joy.

Corazón Flamenco has existed since 2006, comprising four young musicians: Magdalena Navarrete, Anna Iberszer, Andrzej Lewocki and Marek Fedor. Their broad interests bring tango and Argentinian folklore, Cuban bolero and rumba, African rhythms and contemporary rap into traditional flamenco repertoire. Creating stylistic fusions, they expand the line-up with additional instruments, highlighting the character and uniqueness of Spanish and Latin sounds.

Flamenco is one of the world's most difficult dances. The firm, complex rhythms struck out by the dancers' heels combine with delicate hand movements. Andalusian voices sing melodies that are sometimes melancholy, sometimes fiery. Extraordinary guitar techniques add magic, grandeur and wonder to this form of musical expression. Flamenco is not only music, but a way of life.
