Enter Shikari at Thanks Jimi Festival: heavy British sounds in Wrocław
British stars Enter Shikari will perform in Wrocław on 1 May at the annual Thanks Jimi Festival, where guitarists from across Europe will attempt to break the Guinness Guitar Record for the fifteenth time! Masters of heavy, intelligent music who have been setting new trends for over a decade, they return to Poland to promote their latest, award-laden album, “The Mindsweep”!

The band formed in 2003 in St Albans, the hometown of all four members: Roughton “Rou” Reynolds, Liam “Rory” Clewlow, Chris Batten and Rob Rolfe. Even before signing a record deal, they earned enormous recognition through their pioneering fusion of genres and electrifying concerts. By 2006, they had played the prestigious Download Festival and sold out the legendary London Astoria. Their debut album, “Take to the Skies”, promoted by the singles “Anything Can Happen in the Next Half Hour” and “Jonny Sniper”, appeared the following year. Just a week after release, it climbed to number four on the Official UK Album Chart, selling more than 28,000 copies.
The record gathered many tracks from demos, singles and EPs from the band’s early career, documenting the development of their unique musical style. Enter Shikari boldly combined post-hardcore aesthetics with electronics and metal, prompting critics to coin the term electronicore. At the end of 2008, they began work on their second album, allowing fans to follow progress through videos. It was promoted by “Juggernauts”, whose strong sociopolitical message heralded a new, engaged side to the group. The record, titled “Common Dreads”, finally reached shops in 2009. Its chief difference from the debut was a bolder use of electronics.
In early 2012, Enter Shikari released their third album, “A Flash Flood of Colour”, which critics hailed as the group’s greatest achievement. The band won the prestigious Reading Festival poll for best performance, beating acts including Foo Fighters! That same year, they played their first concert in Poland, followed a year later by an unforgettable Przystanek Woodstock appearance. Nominations and awards for best live performances became routine, as did clubs selling out in the blink of an eye. Their latest album, “The Mindsweep”, released in 2015, received 5 stars from legendary magazine Kerrang! and reached number one on the UK Independent Albums chart.
Enter Shikari will perform on 1 May at the 3-Majówka 2017 festival, accompanying the Guinness Guitar Record attempt. The following have already confirmed their participation in this musical celebration taking place on 1–3 May in Wrocław: Lacuna Coil, The Toy Dolls, 5’nizza, Lady Pank, Łąki Łan, Czesław Śpiewa, L.U.C. & Rebel Babel Ensemble, Kult, Illusion, Luxtorpeda, Acid Drinkers, Coma, Krzysztof Zalewski, Fisz Emade Tworzywo, O.S.T.R. and Renata Przemyk.
