De Phazz with “Lala 2.0”: downtempo, jazz and soul from Pit Baumgartner’s German project
De Phazz blends downtempo, jazz, soul and funk in a sound developed by producer Pit Baumgartner. The announcement of the group’s next Polish tour centred on “Lala 2.0” and the album’s presentation in Wrocław.

De Phazz returns to Poland, this time on the tour promoting Lala 2.0.
The group was formed in 1997 by German composer and producer Pit Baumgartner, singers Karl Frierson and Barbara Lahr, and pianist Otto Engelhard. Today, De Phazz have eight studio albums, more than a dozen hits and a lasting reputation as masters of laid-back rhythms and pioneers of downtempo and lounge music.

De Phazz have been led from the beginning by Baumgartner, who effectively changes the line-up for the recording of each new album. Their music blends smooth jazz, soul, funk and Latin sounds with spacious electronica, dub, breakbeat and downtempo. The group's eighth album, “Lala 2.0”, was recently released, featuring vocals from Pat Appleton and Karl Frierson, two of Baumgartner's longest-standing collaborators.
The German act’s recordings have appeared on many prestigious compilations, including “Budha Bar”, “Hotel Costes”, “Paris Lounge”, “Saint-Germain Des-Pres-Cafe” and the Polish series “Smooth Jazz Café” and “Pozytywne Wibracje”.
