Damian Marley at Przystanek Woodstock: a first solo concert in Poland and Jamaican reggae
Damian Marley brings together Jamaican reggae, hip-hop collaborations and his own social voice. The announcement of his first solo appearance in Poland, at Przystanek Woodstock, introduces the artist behind “Welcome To Jamrock” and “Distant Relatives”, recorded with Nas.

Damian Marley, one of the most eagerly awaited reggae artists in Poland, the youngest son of the legendary Bob Marley, a member of Superheavy, Grammy winner and creator of hits including “Welcome To Jamrock” and “Road To Zion”, will come to Poland for his first solo concert here. Damian Marley will perform at Przystanek Woodstock on 2 August.
Following the enthusiastically received “Distant Relatives”, recorded with legendary New York rapper Nas, and his involvement in the star-studded Superheavy project alongside Mick Jagger, Joss Stone and Dave Stewart, Damian Marley is working on his fourth solo album, scheduled for release this year. Between recording sessions, he will visit Poland to give his first entirely solo concert in the country.
Damian Marley was born in Kingston in 1978. He is the son of Miss Jamaica ’77, Cindy Breakspeare, and reggae icon Bob Marley. He began his musical career at just 13, forming The Shepherds with Shiah Coore, son of Third World’s guitarist, and Yashema Beth McGregor, daughter of Freddie McGregor and Judy Mowatt. Damian Marley’s solo debut, “Mr Marley”, released in 1996, was produced entirely by his brother Stephen. The record quickly became popular in the United States and Jamaica, establishing young Damian as one of the leading emerging talents of the time.

The next albums, “Halfway Tree” (2001) and “Welcome to Jamrock” (2005), also produced by Stephen, won fans' hearts and quickly climbed to the top of the sales charts. Both won Grammys for Best Reggae Album, further consolidating the youngest Marley's strong position on the international reggae scene.
Damian Marley remains devoted to Rastafari philosophy, expressing it through music filled with one love, one planet, freedom and equality for everyone. He also describes surrounding reality in his unique way, as his lyrics demonstrate. He is undoubtedly a contemporary reggae ambassador worldwide and one of his generation’s brightest stars. Studio collaborations and shared concerts with hip-hop heavyweights have also made him a bridge between reggae and hip-hop.
Damian “Jr Gong” Marley will come to Poland at the special invitation of LIONSTAGE Management and the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation to perform on the first day of this year's Przystanek Woodstock in Kostrzyn nad Odrą.
