Czesław Śpiewa at Alibi: songs from “Debiut” and “Pop”, and musical interpretations of Miłosz
Czesław Śpiewa combines songwriting, cabaret-style storytelling and improvisation with accordion and brass. The announcement of the Alibi show moves through “Debiut”, “Pop” and musical interpretations of Miłosz’s poetry, introducing Czesław Mozil’s theatrical world.

Czesław Śpiewa, led by charismatic singer Czesław Mozil, known to Polish audiences as the sad boy with an accordion and an “X-Factor” judge, will perform at the Alibi club on 23 November.
The band’s first great hit, “Maszynka do Świerkania”, has almost 13 million views. It conquered the charts, reaching number one on Radio Three among others. Their first album, “Debiut”, sold nearly 100,000 copies, while the next, “POP”, went double platinum. Their latest album, “Czesław Śpiewa Miłosza”, warmly received by music critics, is approaching Gold status. Czesław Śpiewa have also earned Polish critics’ recognition through 15 nominations for the Fryderyks, the Polish music industry’s awards, and 3 winning statuettes.
To date, the band have played more than 700 concerts in Poland and abroad, including Roskilde Festival and OFF Festival. Czesław Śpiewa performances are unique musical spectacles: colourful shows featuring virtuoso displays and freestyle stage patter straight from artistic cabaret. The musicians take listeners on a wild journey into a world of finely crafted tango, pop, folk and avant-garde sounds.
Alongside songs from their latest record, the concert repertoire includes hits from the previous two albums, “Debiut” and “Pop”, and material from Czesław Mozil’s first band, Tesco Value. They use a wide range of instruments: glass bells, assorted wind instruments, accordions and ukuleles are just some of the many cogs in this musical machine. As Życie Warszawy music journalist Marcin Flint concluded: “Czesław’s fight to give Polish pop some signs of creativity at last, rather than making it artificial and overly polished, is heroic.” This is the world to which Czesław Śpiewa invite us.
