Charlie Winston at City Sounds: a British songwriter and contemporary inspirations
Charlie Winston features in the announcement of his first Wrocław concert in the City Sounds series. The writer of “Like a Hobo” combines songwriting with production, with Peter Gabriel’s support and the album “Hobo” marking important chapters in his musical path.

Charlie Winston began his career with intensive touring. He travelled around Europe and played wherever people wanted to hear him, from Germany to France, Italy and Spain. He quickly caught the attention of listeners and… Peter Gabriel! The musician heard Winston and invited him to tour together. Through his connection with Gabriel, Winston reached audiences worldwide, while Charlie himself gained the opportunity to create new material in Gabriel’s own studio. The 2009 album “Hobo” proved his breakthrough release. It went platinum, and the single “Like a hobo” topped charts in France, Germany and Canada.
Winston released his latest album in 2015. “Curio City” is the result of new musical explorations, with records by artists including Alt-J, Daft Punk, Nils Frahm, Jon Hopkins and Lorde providing the inspiration and driving force for change. The album fully reflects the changes in Winston’s life. Now working under the banner of his own record label, he is active as both a musician and a producer.
