Chambao at WrocLove Fest: Mari del Mar, flamenco and electronics on Wyspa Słodowa
Chambao builds its sound from flamenco, electronics and Mari del Mar’s warm voice. The announced WrocLove Fest appearance on Wyspa Słodowa provides the setting for an introduction to the group’s Andalusian roots and its journey from “Flamenco Chill”.

The Spanish group, led by the magical voice of singer Mari del Mar, will play an open-air concert on Słodowa Island as part of WrocLove Fest, held to celebrate Wrocław Day.
In Andalusian dialect, “Chambao” means an improvised beach shelter built to protect against sun and wind. The band's name partly reflects the kind of music they play. Their sound evokes gentle waves, hot sand, the company of friends and, above all, the simple joy of life.
Through their unique combination of traditional flamenco and modern electronic music, the Spanish group won thousands of hearts worldwide within 5 years of performing. Since their 2002 debut, Chambao have released several albums, each a major success. The first, “Flamenco Chill”, immediately became a bestseller, and news of this extraordinary new band spread far beyond Latin audiences. The next, Endorfinas De La Mente, achieved multi-platinum status at record speed and conquered charts in Latin America and Europe.

Released in 2005, “Pokito a Poko” confirmed the Spanish group’s exceptional appeal, while “Con otro aire” (2007) and “En el fin del mundo” (2009) cemented Chambao’s position among the world’s best-known Spanish bands. Chambao took part in the MTV Unplugged recording by another Latin star, Ricki Martin. Together, they performed “Tu Recuerdo (Your Memory)”. “Mari has one of the sweetest and most expressive voices I know. I cannot imagine performing this song with anyone else,” said Ricki Martin of their shared performance.
Wrocław audiences had the opportunity to enjoy the band in November 2007, when they performed at the Wytwórnia Filmów Fabularnych studios in one of the earliest Ethno Jazz Festival concerts.
