Babylon Circus in Poland: “La Belle Etoile” and French chanson with reggae and a brass section
Babylon Circus combines French chanson with reggae, brass and theatrical expression. The article accompanying the band’s Polish concerts explores “La Belle Etoile”, its English- and French-language songs and the belief that music can carry a social message.

Babylon Circus returned to Poland with a new album and an entirely new incarnation steeped in chanson. Listening to “La Belle Etoile”, they seem more French than Parisian baguettes, but only concerts truly reveal their music's incredible dynamism and theatricality.
Their music combines excellent brass playing, tight rhythms and heartfelt English and French vocals in a reggae/ragga style. The lyrics carry strong political messages, founded on the belief that even one person can change the world around us for the better. They are not neutral, but neither do they get involved in political cliques, above all because they maintain a sense of perspective on the world.

They have played hundreds of concerts so far. Beyond France, they have performed in Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Syria and Lebanon.
