Ariel Ramirez with “Latino”: bandoneon and the University of Wrocław choir
Ariel Ramirez’s “Latino” project pairs bandoneon with the University of Wrocław choir. The announcement of its premiere at the White Stork Synagogue explores Latin American songs and rhythms, from Cuba to Argentina and Brazil.

Ethno Jazz Festival invites you to the White Stork Synagogue on 9 February for the premiere concert of the Argentine bandoneon player's new project with the University of Wrocław choir. The programme will feature songs from South and Central America.
Ariel Ramirez presents:
LATINO is a project based mainly on Latin music, encompassing folk rhythms and traditional melodies from different Latin American countries.
Ariel Ramirez is the grandson of one of Argentina’s most famous composers, Ariel Ramirez. He began learning bandoneon at thirteen. He performs with many acclaimed musicians in countries including Chile, Brazil, Peru, Bolivia and Uruguay. Between 2004 and 2007, he worked with violinist Néstor Garnica before joining renowned Argentinian group Los Carabajal. In 2009–2010, he accompanied singer Marcelo Toledo. He has lived in Wrocław for several years, creating and recording new albums here. Ethno Jazz Festival audiences last had the chance to admire him in October during a performance of Msza Kreolska at St Mary Magdalene’s Church.

Between 2008 and 2010, Ariel Ramirez performed at music festivals in Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, Chile and Uruguay. In all these places, he had opportunities to explore traditional music and meet local artists.
LATINO will feature traditional songs from countries including Cuba, Argentina, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil and Mexico.
For the LATINO project, Ramirez invited outstanding Portuguese singer João de Sousa, known to Wrocław audiences from Fado Polaco among other work, and other wonderful musicians specialising in Latin American music.
