Apocalyptica at the National Forum of Music: twenty years of cello interpretations of Metallica
As part of the tour celebrating twenty years since the release of “Plays Metallica by four cellos”, Apocalyptica will perform at Wrocław’s National Forum of Music on 18 February 2017.

Apocalyptica released their debut, “Plays Metallica by four cellos”, on 10 May 1996. It consisted entirely of interpretations of Metallica songs. A remastered version will appear on 22 July this year with three additional tracks: “Battery”, “Nothing Else Matters” and “Seek & Destroy”. Exceptionally, the album will also be available on vinyl. The legendary record allowed listeners to rediscover hits by the most popular metal band, while Apocalyptica created a new musical genre that has sustained a twenty-year career and sold-out concerts worldwide.
Apocalyptica are a Finnish band combining metal and classical music. Their latest album, “Shadowmaker”, was produced by Grammy winner Nick Raskulinecz, known for work with Deftones, Foo Fighters and Mastodon among others. For the first time, they created material from beginning to end with a singer, as Franky Perez joined the line-up. Their eighth album appeared in late April. Reviewers identify influences from Alter Bridge and Alice In Chains, although the purely instrumental pieces for which Apocalyptica are known are also present.
The Finnish musicians will continue touring their latest album, “Shadowmaker”, until the end of the year. In 2017, they return for special concerts celebrating twenty years of “Plays Metallica by four cellos”.
