Amanda Palmer in Wrocław: “Who Killed Amanda Palmer”, piano and production by Ben Folds
On “Who Killed Amanda Palmer”, Amanda Palmer expands a voice-and-piano concept into richly arranged songs with strings. The Polish concert announcement explores The Dresden Dolls singer’s solo work and her collaboration with producer Ben Folds.

Amanda Palmer is a multitalented artist known for the eccentric duo The Dresden Dolls.
On her solo album, Palmer demonstrates that her artistic creativity knows no bounds. Her original approach was minimalist: Amanda decided to record a solo album using only piano and voice, made in a week in her own bedroom. In Australia, she met Ben Folds, and the recording plan moved from her bedroom to his Nashville studio. With Ben Folds producing, the songs on the album, whose title refers to Twin Peaks, took on new life, resulting in the finest-recorded compositions of Amanda Palmer’s career.

Blending magic with the macabre, the everyday with the sentimental, “Who Killed Amanda Palmer” emerges as a musical tour de force, the artistic culmination of almost a decade of creative work. Some tracks have a pop-and-twist flavour, while others, gentle and intimate, reveal a side of Amanda that The Dresden Dolls artist rarely shows. Guest musicians include East Bay Ray of Dead Kennedy’s on “Guitar Hero”, Annie Clark of St. Vincent and cellist Zoe Keating. Paul Buckmaster himself provided the string arrangements, bringing further colour to the finished record. “Who Killed Amanda Palmer” will also include commentary written by Neil Gaiman. Amanda will collaborate with the author on a book of photographs to be released alongside the album.
