ŁONA X KONIECZNY X KRUPA – “TAXI” BRINGS RAP AND JAZZ TOGETHER
On “TAXI”, Łona, Andrzej Konieczny and Kacper Krupa combine rap, jazz and electronics with real stories from drivers and passengers. The concert preview at Wrocław’s Student Culture Zone explores a project that began at OFF Opera in 2020.
Łona, Andrzej Konieczny and Kacper Krupa invite listeners into “TAXI”, a musical story where rap meets jazz, electronics and conversations heard from the back seat. Their collaboration looks at urban life through the experiences of drivers and passengers, pairing precise language with room for improvisation. Wrocław's Strefa Kultury Studenckiej becomes a meeting place for three distinctive artists who can turn an everyday detail into a starting point for a wider reflection. On stage, the project gains the immediacy and tension of a live exchange. It rewards listeners who enjoy music that moves them through rhythm, perspective, humour and attention to human stories.
TAXI – hip-hop, jazz and city stories
"TAXI" is an extraordinary collaboration between Łona, a Szczecin rapper and master of words, and Andrzej Konieczny and Kacper Krupa – prominent figures in the improv scene and members of the band Siema Ziemia. Their joint project is a fusion of rap, electronic music, jazz, and experimental sounds, embedded in a concept that transports listeners to the backseat of a nighttime taxi.
The album "TAXI", which audiences will hear live in Wrocław, is a record of the cultural transformation of the last thirty years – seen from the perspective of drivers and passengers. Łona examines social moods with characteristic precision, drawing on authentic stories gathered during a series of conversations with taxi drivers. It's a kind of rap-reportage, in which personal reflection intertwines with the urban rhythm and poetics of the night.
The project was born in 2020 at the OFF Opera festival. It was there that Łona, together with Zuza Głowacka, conducted his first conversations with Poznań taxi drivers. Their stories inspired the creation of a conceptual album, which – after years of development – will be presented in concert this fall and winter.
This is no ordinary concert.
It's a journey through three decades of city life – with live music, storytelling, and emotions that can't be confined to a single genre.
