May Day, which has been bringing together generations of music fans for years, kicking off the country's summer concert season. The event, initiated over two decades ago, has become a permanent part of the cultural landscape of Lower Silesia, attracting both icons of the scene and fresh musical discoveries.
The origins of 3-Mayówka date back to the 2000s, when Wrocław's Market Square hosted the first one-day concerts to celebrate the national holiday. Over the years, the festival has grown dynamically, changing its location and scale several times – today it is a three-day music festival with several stages and extensive infrastructure.
and thousands of participants from all over Poland and abroad. An integral part of the festival is the Guitar World Record – a unique event that gathers thousands of guitarists from around the world in Wrocław's Market Square every May 1st. Together, they perform Jimi Hendrix's "Hey Joe," attempting to break the world record for the number of people playing the same song simultaneously on guitars.
It also symbolically opens the May Day celebrations, and at the same time, demonstrates the strength of the musical community. The key venue for the main part of the festival is the monumental Centennial Hall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is here, in a unique setting with excellent acoustics, that the main May Day concerts take place. Next to the hall is the Pergola – a popular Wrocław outdoor space with a multimedia fountain, which creates a spectacular backdrop for evening performances after dark.
The third stage is the club space in the Conference Center, where more intimate concerts and DJ sets take place, lasting until late at night. Thanks to this diversity, 3-Majówka offers a unique festival experience – for lovers of rock, electronica, and
as well as alternative or ethnic music.
The lineup for 3-May 2025 promises to be impressive. Renowned Polish and international artists representing a wide range of genres will perform on three stages from alternative rock, through reggae and punk, to electronica and metal.
