ARKADIUSZ JAKUBIK
A man whose face is familiar to anyone even remotely interested in Polish cinema, and whose ears are familiar to anyone with a penchant for raw, uncompromising rock. He was born on January 14, 1969, in Strzelce Opolskie, a small town that quickly became too small for him. From an early age, he was drawn to the stage – at the age of eight, he appeared on screen in the film "Round Week," directed by Tadeusz Kijański. But he honed his acting chops later, studying at the Acting Department of the State Drama School (now the Academy of Theatre Arts) in Wrocław. He graduated in 1992 and headed to Warsaw to prove that you don't have to come from a big city to perform on the big stage.

BIOGRAPHY
Over time, however, it became clear that one scene wasn't enough for him. Jakubik is an artist who needs different languages to tell the story of the world – film was one of them, but music became another, equally important. In 2008, he founded the band Dr Misio, in which he took on the role of vocalist and leader. It's a unique project – not a celebrity project, not for show. Dr Misio is a raw, punk-rock manifesto about reality, about Poland, about humanity. Their lyrics – written by Krzysztof Varga, Marcin Świetlicki, and Michał Wiraszko – balance between irony, anger, and lyricism. From his debut album "Młodzi" (2013) to "Chory na Polskę" (2020), Jakubik guides the listener through a world where rock becomes a form of resistance to stupidity, hypocrisy, and mediocrity. Dr Misio is not an actor's hobby, but a band of flesh and blood – with concert tours, a loyal audience, and unmistakable energy. At concerts Jakubik doesn't play a role - he explodes.
His early career was connected with the theater – he performed at, among others, the Warsaw Operetta and the Rampa Theater, where he gained a reputation for temperament and stage presence. However, he first became known to the general public through television – as the cadet Rysio in the cult series "13th Precinct 2." It was cinema that made him a household name. His breakthrough came with Wojciech Smarzowski – "Wesele," "Dom Czarny," "Drogówka," "Wołyń," "Kler" – these titles created the legend of Jakubik. In Smarzowski's films, he is raw, genuine, and full of emotion. He doesn't act – he burns. This intensity and authenticity earned him the acclaim of critics and audiences, as well as four Eagle Awards – the Polish Film Award.
But Arkadiusz Jakubik has never confined himself to a single role. He's not just an actor, but also a director and screenwriter. His credits include "A Simple Story About Murder" and "Amator 21," and he previously co-wrote the cult classic "Snow White and Russian Red." He directs with the same energy he brings to acting—no strings attached, always on the edge.
Jakubik is a total artist. On stage, in front of the camera, and behind the camera, he's always himself. He doesn't seek comfortable roles or appropriate subject matter. Instead, he chooses what's difficult, uncomfortable, and true. He doesn't care about pleasing everyone. He cares that what he does makes sense.
In his private life, he is the husband of actress Agnieszka Matysiak and the father of two sons, Jakub and Jan. His height is approximately 178 cm, and his energy is immeasurable. He still connects the worlds of film, music, and life with the same passion he did three decades ago. As he himself says, he doesn't need likes or glamour—the truth and playing loud are enough for him.
Arkadiusz Jakubik is one of those artists who never pretends. You can see the experience in his eyes, the rebellion in his voice, and the need to say things others prefer to remain silent in his work. He's an actor who can laugh and hurt in the same scene. A musician whose lyrics are straight to the point. A director who isn't afraid of the dirt. Genuine, committed, and unapologetic. Jakubik. Simply Jakubik.
